Phiri urges concentration on adolescent reproductive health

Ministry of Community Development Director, Caroline Phiri says there is need to increase efforts and concentrate on adolescents’ reproductive health and women and children’s health and nutrition in the country.

Dr. Phiri is hopeful that with adequate youth involvement in reproductive, maternal and adolescent health, Zambia will attain most of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

She says the ministry will be working with traditional leaders and the community at large in ensuring the success of adolescents’ reproductive health and women and children’s health and nutrition.

Dr. Phiri says there is need to transform this growth into tangible development outcomes, and that the only way is to ensure that government is held accountable from the commitment it has made.

And Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, Executive Director, Robin Gorna says the Partnership’s value proposition arises from its being the only platform that brings together all of the many Partners in the global health community focused on improving the health of women and children.
