US$ 500 worth cement plant to create 3,000 jobs in Chongwe

Simona Zambia Building Material Park has projected to create at least 3,000 jobs once its US$ 500 worth cement plant is set in Chongwe District.

The US$ 500 worth cement production project is expected to be producing 1 million tons of cement per year besides producing pan bricks, lime commercial concrete and fiber cement boards among other building materials.

And speaking this afternoon at media briefing in Lusaka Commerce, Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Miles Sampa says government is confident that management at the cement plant will flow with the Government’s intention to ensure Zambians feel part and parcel of the investment.

Mr. Sampa says this implies that the cost of construction is now becoming more reasonable and affordable by the majority of our people.

He says that it is therefore important that Zambia maintains a type of investment that generates employment and add value to the general growth of the economy.

Speaking at the same media briefing Simona Zambia Building Material Park president Peng Jianxin disclosed that the 3,000 jobs his cement plant will create will be both direct and indirect jobs.

Mr.Jianxin spoke through an interpreter .

Meanwhile Senior Chieftainess Nkomesha Mukamambo the second of the Soli people who attended the media briefing has commended Simona Zambia Building Material Park for setting up the cement plant in her District.
