ZANASU calls for lasting solutions to problems at higher learning institutions

The Zambia National Students Union (ZANASU) says piece meal solutions applied to the problems higher learning institutions are facing in the country are not helping.

Zanasu vice president Prince Ndoyi says government should find a lasting solution to the challenges higher learning institutions are facing stating that what is happening now is inconveniencing and disappointing to the students.

He says the levels of trust the students had in the government are now dwindling which should not be the case.

Mr. Ndoyi says students have learnt with utmost dismay that the promise by government to address the challenges the universities in the country are facing was mere rhetoric.

He states that this amounts to betrayal and erodes the amount of trust and confidence in the government.

Mr. Ndoyi adds that it is such situations that bring about unnecessary unrests among students.

He says the students are hopeful that in the 2016 national budget, the education sector will be given top priority to help address the challenges in the sector.
