University Teaching Hospital (UTH) management says the US$29 million from US$750 million Eurobond allocated to the institution is helping to transform the hospital into a new one-stop centre and ultra-modern adult medical emergency unit.

UTH Public Relations Officer Mwenya Mulenga says the hospital was lacking the status of the highest level hospital and that with the ongoing modernization process; the hospital is slowly transforming into a modern health institution.

Mr. Mulenga explains that UTH management had a program to modernize the institution and government decided to come in and help with financial support.

He has disclosed that the resurfacing of the 2km roads within the institution has been completed and that very soon the roads will be handed over to the institution by the contractor.

He adds that the installation of fourteen elevators at hospital is progressing well with eight elevators having been already installed so far.

Mr. Mulenga says management is assured that by the end of the year, the filter clinic and the car park will be done to add value to service delivery.

He also disclosed the health institution has replaced the CT scan that broke down with a new one and that what is remaining is Radiation Protection certification.
