George Lwandamina has described Zesco United’s away draw at Green Eagles as a minor setback.

Zesco were held to a 2-2 draw by Eagles in Choma to cut the defending champions’ and current league leaders the prospect of securing the 2015 title with at least three games to spare.

Victory on Saturday in Choma would have seen Zesco needing a win in their next game to retain their title.

“It is just a bump along the way, it’s just a hiccup and we are still focused. That is how football is,” Lwandamina said.

Zesco squandered their lead twice to settle for a point at Choma where they have not won since September 2012.

Zesco made a bright start against Eagles when midfielder Cletous Chota put the visitors 1-0 in the seventh minute.

Mathew Tembo equalised stoppage time of the first half before Mwape Mwelwa put Zesco back into the lead in the 48th minute.

Substitute Mwila Phiri stole a point for Eagles with another stoppage time goal.

Zesco’s lead has now been cut from nine to seven points after second placed Zanaco beat third from bottom Konkola Blades 2-0 on Sunday at home in Lusaka.

Zesco and Zanaco have 60 and 53 points respectively from 26 games with four matches left to play.

Meanwhile, Zesco return to action on Wednesday when they host number three side Power Dynamos in the big Copperbelt derby in Ndola.
