Christians Against Poverty in Zambia (CAPIZ) says government should not allow millers to increase the price of mealie meal.
CAPIZ President Evangelist Gregory Chileshe has told QFM News via telephone that government should be seen to be representing the interest of the people by ensuring that the millers do not go ahead and increase the price of the staple food.
Evangelist Chileshe says the habit of arm twisting government by the private sector should come to an end as the people who suffer are the ordinary Zambians.
He says Zambia cannot afford to see an increment in the price of essential goods and services when they are already paying too much.
Evangelist Chileshe adds that the reasons given by the Millers Association of Zambia of the fluctuating kwacha, load shedding and export of maize to other African countries are not genuine and one can see that they are just trying to arm twist government.
