The opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) says President Lungu missed another golden opportunity to appeal to the international community to come to the aid of Zambia in view of the many challenges in the country.

And the opposition political party has called on the PF Government to state clearly the fruits of the China trip that President Lungu and his entourage undertook in March this year.

UPND Chairman for Rural Reconstruction and Development Moono Mapani has told QFM News in a walk-in-interview that President Lungu should have taken advantage of the BBC Focus on Africa interview to appeal to the international community to help the country address the current challenges.

Mr. Mapani says the failure by the Head of State to feature on that interview goes to show the leadership gap that exists in the country.

He says if President Lungu is thinking of addressing the challenges alone without the help of stakeholders then he is lying to himself saying the current challenges require external support.

And Mr. Mapani says time has gone for the country to start seeing the fruits of the China trip saying nothing is seen at the moment.

He recalls that the Head of State told the nation that he facilitated the signing of a range of investment agreements and wooed investors that yielded signing of agreements worth $800 million with Chinese companies other than additional concession loans and grants.

Meanwhile, the UPND Chairman for Rural Reconstruction and Development has castigated Chief Government Spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili for telling Zambians that they should not vote for the UPND for they will concentrate on rearing animals saying he lacks leadership qualities.
