The Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) has encouraged politicians not to shun the national day of prayer and fasting declared by President Edgar Lungu.

EFZ Executive Director Reverend Pukuta Mwanza says politicians should instead use this as an opportunity to settle all their differences.

He says there is no justification for political players to shun this month’s national day of prayer and fasting program.

Reverend Mwanza says the church is concerned that some political parties have politicized the event even when they know that the initiative is aimed at bringing the people together.

Reverend Mwanza says he is aware that a good number of politicians go to church and see no reason why they should shun the event.

He states that politicians should look at the benefits this event will bring to the nation and not at the person who has declared the prayer and fasting.

And Independent Churches of Zambia (ICOZ) Board Chairman Bishop David Masupa has told QFM News in a separate interview that the church is disappointed that some politicians are refusing to attend this important event.

Bishop Masupa has since encouraged Zambians to ignore such leaders saying they do not mean well for the nation.
