SACCORD urges consultative meeting on economic crisis

The Southern African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) believes Zambia’s economic crisis calls for a crisis consultative meeting to be held.

SACCORD is therefore asking President Edgar Lungu to reconsider his stance on holding such a meeting with other stakeholders especially that he is now back from his New York trip.

Executive Director Boniface Cheembe says his organization believes such a meeting will provide an opportunity to share and exchange ideas that can best address the economic crisis.

Mr. Cheembe has told Qfm News in an interview that SACCORD further believes that holding a crisis meeting will also help ease and heal the trauma Zambians are enduring as a result of the economic crisis.

He says his organization is therefore earnestly appealing to President Lungu to seriously consider calling for a consultative meeting with various stakeholders at the most opportune time.

And Mr.Cheembe says SACCORD is disappointed that President Lungu failed to utilize an opportunity he was accorded to feature on the BBC’s Focus on Africa.

Mr. Cheembe states that his organization does not understand why the President opted not to feature on the programme at the last minute.
