CCPC meets annual target half year

The Competition and Consumer protection commission (CCPC) has of August 30th resolved 1,199 cases against the targeted 1000 cases.
CCPC director for consumer protection Brian Lingela says this is an increase from the 827 cases resolved in 2014.

Mr. Lingela says the commission recovered k980, 288.81 in refunds and replacements which is more than the k704, 336.31 recovered in 2014.

He adds that k140, 000 was recovered in fines from 7 companies adding that a total of k1, 120.288.81 was recovered.

Mr. Lingela states that the target is to complete more cases by end of the year due to increased awareness programmes and current enforcement

He explains that the commission recovered at least k3.3 million 2013-2014 in products refunds and replacements nationwide
Mr. Lingela further states that this is the amount of money the consumers would have lost if the commission had not intervened.
