The high level of political polarization among major political players in Zambia has been attributed to the prevailing deep mutual mistrust between the ruling party and the opposition.

Opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President George Mpombo has observed that this deep mutual suspicion is what is also making it very difficult to determine the extent to which advice being given by the opposition to government is being heed to.

He says this is evidenced by how government and the opposition are not talking to each other as they should in a Democracy.

Dr. Mpombo has told Qfm News by telephone that this situation has however, created a quagmire for shadow boxing among major political players in the country.

He has advised that in order to cultivate an enabling environment where leaders can exchange views and give advice to each other, there is need for government and the opposition to start talking.

Dr. Mpombo says government should therefore call for a national indaba where political leaders should meet with the view of seeing how best they can handle their political responsibilities.
