SACCORD seeks progress Zambia has made to help S. Sudan

The Southern African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) has called on government to update the nation on how it is helping to resolve conflicts in South Sudan.

SACCORD has taken note that it has been some time since the President of South Sudan Salva Kiir appealed to President Edgar Lungu to intervene in resolving the conflicts of his country.

SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Cheembe says in view of the assurance that President Lungu made to help South Sudan attain peace, his organization hopes that the Zambian government has been working quietly behinds closed doors to this effect.

Mr. Cheembe says his organization also hopes that some strides have been made to assist the people of South Sudan.

He says SACCORD has observed that the government of South Sudan still struggles to bring about peace for its people.
