HH accuses govt of not buying maize from farmers

Opposition UPND President Hakainde Hichilema has accused the PF government of not buying maize from Farmers in Eastern Province.

Mr. Hichilema notes that this is notwithstanding the fact that the floor price of for maize at K75 per 50kg bag is too low.

He has wondered whether this does not therefore amount to what he has termed as a ‘Don’t Kuba’ on poor farmers for government to allegedly not buy their maize when K75 per 50kg bag floor price is not even enough.

Mr. Hichilema thinks that this is the first time that a government is allegedly failing to buy maize as late as September.
