The Food Reserve Agency (FRA) SAYS the agency has so far bought 62,000 metric tonnes of maize of the targeted 500,000 metric tonnes.

FRA Executive Director Chola Kafwabulula has told QFM News in a telephone interview that the agency is however facing transportation challenges accessing satellite depots especially in far flung areas.

Mr Kafwabulula says transporters are refusing to pick up the Maize from the depots in far flung areas due to bad road networks in some rural areas.

He is however confident that the Agency will move the maize before the end of September.

Mr Kafwabulula has since assured the farmers supplying Maize to the Agency the money is available and will start receiving their payments as soon as the paper work is done.
