Defence Minister Richwell Siamunene has disclosed that President Lungu has directed him to learn from Botswana how the defence forces in that country are helping in protecting wildlife.Siamunene RICH

Mr. Siamunene told journalists upon arrival at Kenneth Kaunda international airport from Botswana where he had accompanied the President for the SADC Summit that President Lungu is very much concerned with the rampant killing of wildlife.

He says Botswana has managed with the help of its defence forces to protect its animals.

Mr Siamunene says he has taken the presidential directive seriously noting that the depletion of wildlife should at all cost be reduced.

He states that he will in September this year be leading a delegation to Botswana to go and learn more from them on how they have managed to use the defence forces to protect wildlife.

Mr Siamunene has further warned those involved in the illegal poaching of animals to desist from the act.
