The opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) President Hakainde Hichilema says this is the time to stop pretending that things are ok under the PF saying the country is in a mess.

And the UPND Leader has observed that farmers across the country are still suffering because of policy inconsistency by the PF Government.

In a weekly policy statement made available to QFM News today, Mr. Hichilema says from the time the PF took over office, there has been inconsistency in policy implementation that affects Zambians.

Mr. Hichilema states that despite the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) having been a programme designed to alleviate suffering or rather vulnerable farmers, it has ended up serving the rich.

He says the fertilizer and seed suppliers have become rich at the expense of the farmers for whom this project was designed.

He says he spoke about this to MMD and now PF, but clearly his message is falling on deaf ears.

He adds Agriculture Minister Given Lubinda has told the farmers to sell to the private market as government is not interested in their harvest, accusing him of not serving the interests of the farmers.

The UPND Leader says the slogan by the Zambia National Farmers Union (ZNFU) that, “No farmer, no food”, can be extended by simply stating that if there is no food, there is no life.
