Visiting Malawian President Peter Mutharika, who arrived in Lusaka on Friday for an official state visit, is expected to return back to Malawi this afternoon.

And Professor Mutharika and Malawi First Lady Gertrude this morning visited the Presidential Burial site at Embassy Park accompanied by Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary Lombe Chalwe and Justice Minister Dr. Ngosa Simbyakula.

Professor Mutharika laid wreaths in honor of the Zambia’s fallen Presidents, Michael Sata and Levi Mwanawasa and Dr. Fredrick Chiluba.

Professor Mutharika also took time to sign in the visitor’s book at the embassy park.

The President was received by Regional Director for East Central Heritage Conservation Kangosa Mwamulowe who also briefed Professor Mutharika on the construction of the late Frederick Chiluba’s mausoleum.

Professor Mutharika later visited first Zambia’s Republican President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda to pay a
courtesy call on him before returning to his hotel room.

Whilst in Zambia, Professor Mutharika officially opened Zambia’s 89th Agriculture and Commercial Show under the theme “Innovation beyond Golden Jubilee.
