Rwanda head coach Johnny McKinstry has revealed he is aware of the threat posed by Libya after the two sides were drawn in the 2018 Fifa World Cup second round qualifiers set for November 9-17.

The tie is a repeat of the 2015 Afcon first round qualifier, where Rwanda stunned the reigning Chan champions 3-0 on aggregate.

But the Irish coach told supersport.com that this will be a different ball game all-together.

“Libya are a tough team. Rwanda obviously had a good result against them last year 3-0 over two legs. That was excellent,” noted McKinstry.

“But Libya are a little bit aggrieved from last year and potentially will feel that they have a score to settle and that will give them extra motivation for the game.

“It is not an easy game but the draw could have been worse.”

Rwanda are currently ranked 20th on the African continent and are among the top 27 teams that got a bye to the second round.

Teams ranked 28-53 will face off in the first round with the 13 winners taking on the top 27 in the second round.

The 20 winners will be divided into five groups of four and will play a home and away round-robin basis with the group winners qualifying for the Fifa 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Rwanda have never qualified for the Fifa World Cup.
