Cash Money Records leader Birdman was reportedly upset at his artist Tyga for releasing his latest project The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty on streaming sites such as Spotify. But the part-time rapper is taking more serious steps over the release of Lil Wayne’s recent Free Weezy Album.

TMZ reports Birdman has filed a $50 million lawsuit against the Jay Z led streaming service Tidal for exclusively debuting FWA on the platform.

Cash Money is claiming its contract with Wayne only gives the label the legal right to license Weezy’s music. The suit even suggests Tidal pulled “a desperate and illegal attempt to save their struggling streaming service.”

Wayne actually became a part owner of Tidal in June. He joined other high-profile acts like Jay, Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, and J. Cole as “artist-owners” of the company.

Tidal is also currently set to stream Lil Wayne’s upcoming “Lil Weezyana Fest” next month.

The news of a CMR-Tidal lawsuit comes the same week of reports Birdman conspired with Atlanta rapper Young Thug to kill Lil Wayne.

Thug’s road manager Jimmy “PeeWee Roscoe” Winfrey has been arrested for shooting at Wayne’s tour bus.
