Tribalism worries Teachers Union

ClassThe Professional Teachers Union of Zambia (PROTUZ) in Lusaka Province has observed that teachers can play a pivotal role in ending tribalism which is becoming a threat to the country’s unity.

PROTUZ Lusaka Provincial Chairperson Nelson Mwale has told QFM News via telephone that the issue of tribalism is worrying teachers and thus the need for them to start educating the pupils that the country is united.

He says there is no need to pretend that tribalism is becoming a challenge in the country and thus the need to address it as soon as possible.

Mr. Mwale says teachers should ensure that pupils from Grade one through to Grade 12 are taught about the importance of being one saying it will help them in future.

He says it would be a good idea for government to also include this aspect in the curriculum so that pupils grow to know that there is only one Zambia which all people should strive to protect.
