Injuries have hit Zambia ahead of this Saturday’s final leg of their 2016 Chan first round qualifier.

Power Dynamos striker Jimmy Ndhlovu and Zesco United midfielder Justin Zulu have both been ruled out of this weekend’s must-win clash against Namibia.

Zambia team physician Doctor Joseph Kabungo said he is also closely monitoring Power defender Christopher Munthali and Green Buffaloes winger Allan Mukuka who limped into camp on Monday in Lusaka.

“We had an initial assessment on Munthali last evening (Monday) and he had light training this morning. We are yet to make a decision because we are still assessing him,” Dr Kabungo said.

“But as for Jimmy, we thought it would be in the best interest of the player to rule him out of the game.”

Ndhlovu’s place has been taken by Red Arrows striker Festus Mbewe while Mufulira Wanderers’ Jacob Ngulube and Seith Sakal of Napsa have been brought in as potential replacements for Zulu.

Zulu has been out of action since May when he suffered an ankle injury on Zambia duty at the 2015 Cosafa Cup in South Africa.

Meanwhile, Zambia trail 2-1 from the first leg played on June 21 in Windhoek and must beat Namibia this weekend at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka to advance to the final qualifying round.
