Transport, works, supply and communications Minister Yamfwa Mukanga has appealed to all road contractors to be patient with government over their delayed payments.
Commenting on reports suggesting that the contractor working on the Kitwe-Chingola road has threatened to abandon the project due to lack of funding by government since September last year.
Mr.Mukanga says all contractors will be paid according to the terms and conditions of their contracts signed with the Road Development Agency (RDA).
He explains that despite some logistical problems which have led to delays paying some contractors, government is doing its level best to pay all the contractors it owes.
Mr Mukanga adds that he is aware that Sinohydro Zambia Limited has not done much work on the road and that nonpayment should not be an excuse to abandon the project.
