ZRP says does not care how new constitution is enacted

The opposition Zambia Republic (ZRP) has added its voice in asking the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) to give the Zambian people new constitution before the 2016 general elections.

The ZRP thinks that there should not be any further debate about the need for the country to have a people driven constitution before next year’s general elections.

ZRP president Wright Musoma has told Qfm News in a statement that this is mainly because having a people driven constitution has been a cry for Zambians for a long time.

Mr. Musoma states that his party does not however care whether the ruling PF uses a referendum or Parliament to enact the country’s new supreme law.

He states that what is important for his party is that clauses such as the 50+1 election winning threshold, the presidential running mate and appointing of Cabinet outside Parliament are included in the new constitution.
