Zambia face Flames in fifth-place battle

Chipolopolo trainZambia wrap-up their interest at the 2015 Cosafa Cup on Friday when they meet Malawi in the Plate final at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg.

Chipolopolo and Malawi qualified for the 5th and 6th place-playoff final after a 3-0 win over Ghana and 5-4 post-match penalties victory over Bafana Bafana respectively in the Plate semifinals on Wednesday night at the same venue.

The two sides together with Ghana and hosts Bafana were relegated to the Plate final following quarterfinal losses in the tournament’s main event earlier in the week.

Interestingly, Zambia and Malawi clash in what will be the two sides’ second meeting this month.

The two sides met in a friendly on May 10 at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka that Zambia won 2-0.

“It won’t be easy playing Malawi for the second time in a month. They have studied us and we have studied them,” Zambia coach Honour Janza said.

Zambia should be at full strength for the game although defensive midfielder Nathan Sinkala has withdrawn from the match after he was given permission to travel back to Lusaka for his wedding scheduled for this Saturday.

Janza will most likely start Nkana utility defender Donashano Malama in Sinkala’s place after the former was rested for Wednesday’s win over Ghana.

Meanwhile, midfielder Justin Zulu remains a doubt due to an ankle injury he sustained in last Sunday’s 5-4 post-match penalty defeat against Namibia.
