Finland’s Ambassador to Zambia Timo Olkkonen says the social cash transfer scheme in Zambia has proved to be economically viable at grassroots level.
Mr. Olkkonen notes that the social cash transfer has produced economic activities among the beneficiaries.
He says what is important is to ensure poverty reduction is sustained.
Mr Olkkonen says it’s not about giving hands to the poor people but ensuring that every amount of money given out creates value for economic activity.
He adds that what is important for any country is to reduce poverty by involving the private sector in eradicating poverty at grassroots level.
