ECZ has not considered holding referendum alongside 2016 polls

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) says it has not yet considered the issue of holding a national constitution referendum alongside the 2016 general election.

ECZ Spokesperson Cris Akufuna says the Commission is watching the space as the issue of the referendum is still being discussed at a high level.

Mr. Akufuna has told Qfm News in an interview the electoral body will only consider the issue of the referendum when policy direction has been given.

He says it is also only when policy direction has been given will it be known how the commission will conduct the referendum alongside next year’s general election.
