Constitute a task force on land, President Lungu called upon

President Edgar Lungu has been called upon to constitute a task force to look into the issue of land acquisition in the country.

Beautiful Gates Zambia Executive Director Bill Kaping’a says his organisation is concerned that land acquisition in the country has continued to be a preserve of people with connections in government.

Mr. Kaping’a has told Qfm News by telephone from Kitwe that his organization is also concerned with the alleged massive plunder and corruption that has been reported with respect land acquisition in the country.

He says it is for this reason that his organisation is calling on the Head of State to consider appointing a new task force on land that should be composed of officers from the Ministries of Local Government & Housing, Home Affairs, and Youth & Sport.

Mr. Kaping’a adds that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), the Office of the President, the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) the Zambia Police should also be part of this task force.

He states that the role of this task force should be to look into land acquisition in the country and make recommendations to government of how to further prevent corruption, promote transparency and make land accessible to every citizen without any impediments.

Mr Kaping’a has encouraged President Lungu to ensure that vulnerable Zambians are empowered with land during his presidency.
