Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda has come to the aide of Republican President Edgar Lungu saying the Head of State is not involved in the probing of suspended Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Mutembo Nchito.

Mr. Chanda has clarified that the involvement of President Lungu in the matter ended after appointing members of the Tribunal in line with the constitution.

Mr. Chanda says President Lungu received many complaints against Mr. Nchito that is why he constituted a tribunal to answer to the allegations.

He says the President constituted a tribunal because the integrity of the office of the DPP was questioned.

He discloses that President Lungu received more than seven petitions against the alleged misconduct of Mr. Nchito and that is why he saw it fit to constitute the tribunal to probe him.

Mr. Chanda says the President received so many phone calls complaining against Mr. Nchito and directed them to the Attorney General and the Minister of Justice Dr. Ngosa Simbyakula but that they still called his office.
