Government has called upon the media in the country to take keen interest in reporting on science and technology.

Speaking during a media forum for science and technology reporting organized by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) in Lusaka today, Ministry of Education, Science and Vocational Training Permanent Secretary Patrick Nkanza says technology has come with many benefits thus it is important that journalists report on issues surrounding science and technology.

Dr. Nkanza says once the media begin to report on science and technology, it will help stimulate interest and understanding in the future generation.

He further states that technology is a key driver to sustained economic development, adding that the country cannot run away from it but embrace it.

And speaking earlier, NSTC Board Chairman Dr. Henry Musenge also observed that science and technology are hardly covered by the media.

Dr. Musenge has challenged the media to give the same coverage given to political stories to science and technology stories.
