PTAZ questions 20% fuel supply allocated to Zambian transporters

The Petroleum Transporters Association of Zambia (PTAZ) says the announcement by government that 20 percent of all fuel transportation business must be given to Zambian transporters was a mere political statement.

PTAZ Spokesperson Benson Tembo says this is because no Zambian transporter is directly involved in the transportation of fuel.

Mr Tembo says it is unfortunate that the Minister of Mines, Energy and Water Development made the statements without engaging the Zambian petroleum transporters to address their challenges.

He stresses that Zambian transporters are mere spectators in the terraces in fuel transportation because foreigners are the ones transporting fuel.

Mr Tembo notes that there is a lot to be done to ensure that Zambian transporters are get actively involved in transporting fuel.

Mr.Tembo states that Zambian transporters will not allow foreigners to get away with all processes in transporting fuel.

He adds that the Energy Minister’s statement on giving Zambian transporters 20 percent of business in the transportation of fuel was not new to the industry.
