ECZ sets June 30th for three by-elections

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has set Tuesday, 30th June, 2015 as the date on which to hold parliamentary by-elections in Petauke, Malambo and Mulobezi constituencies.

The by-elections are as a result of the nullification by the courts of the election of Dora Siliya, Maxwell Mwale and Hastings Sililo as Petauke, Malambo and Mulobezi Members of Parliament respectively.

ECZ Public Relations Manager Crispin Akufuna in a statement says the filing of nominations will be conducted on Thursday 28th May,2015 between 09:00 hours and 15:00 hours.

Mr Akufuna says the campaign period for the by-elections will commence on Thursday,28th May,2015 at 15:00 hours and will end 18:00 hours on Monday,29th June,2015.

Mr Akufuna adds that aspiring candidates in the Petauke,Malambo and Mulobezi parliamentary by-elections are required to attend nomination briefings on Tuesday,26th May,2015 at the Civic Centres in respective districts.

By-elections for two wards will also be held on the same date.

These are Kapela ward in Mwense district and Tanganyika ward in Mpulungu district.
