AVAP urges NRC registration in border areas

The Department of National Registration has been called upon to pay particular attention to citizens living in border and fishing camp areas in the ongoing countrywide mobile issuance of National Registration Cards.

The Anti Voter Apathy Project (AVAP) says this is because these are the areas where people in most cases feel neglected and do not bother to have their national registration.

AVAP Executive Director Richwell Mulwani has advised that it is important for Registration officers to advise such people on the need to be registered as Zambians.

Mr. Mulwani has told Qfm News in an interview that his organization is also appealing to the National Registration Department to be wary of foreign nationals who may try to take advantage of the registration exercise.

He says this will require the Immigration Department being on the ground to ensure that foreigners do not obtain NRCs illegally during this exercise.
