The Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA) has confiscated various medicines and shut down seven illegal drug stores in Lusaka.

ZAMRA Public Relations Officer Ludovic Mwape has confirmed the development to QFM News that four drug stores are from Kanyama Compound and three from Ng’ombe Compound.

Mr. Mwape has also confirmed the arrest of Misheck Kabwe Shabami, aged 30, who was arrested last night for running an illegal clinic in Kanyama.

Mr. Mwape says Mr. Shabami was found with various government medicines and was masquerading as a Pharmacist.

He suspects that Mr. Shabami is not Zambian because of his accent.

He says people owing illegal drug stores must just go the authority and register their businesses in stead of putting the lives of the people at risk.

Mr. Mwape states that even the people who were running the outlets that the authority shut down were not qualified.

The ZAMRA Public Relations Officer has since appealed to the general public to ensure that they avoid visiting such illegal outlets saying they are risking their lives.
