Political Activist Dante Saunders has reminded the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) that they were voted into office because they promised to deliver the constitution within a shortest possible time.

Mr. Saunders says there is nothing constructive and positive from President Edgar Lungu’s statement over the constitution.

President Lungu last evening in Livingstone said he has nothing to hide or fear in delivering the new constitution to the Zambian people in the shortest and most practical time possible.

But Mr. Saunders has told QFM News that the PF ought to know that the MMD were removed from office because they never showed any commitment of delivering a people driven constitution.

He says the people are tired of hearing same statements from the PF government about the constitution which they are not living to their word.

He adds that it is unfortunate that President Lungu has continued to echo blank statements about the constitution saying the people want action and not rhetoric.

Mr. Saunders states that there is need for the people to be united and push government further to deliver a new constitution saying they promised to deliver it within 90 days.

The Political Activist furthermore adds that President Lungu should not politicize the constitution making process but act appropriately by giving the people of Zambia a new constitution.

Meanwhile, Governance Activist Maurice Malambo says there is need to look at the practicality and possibility of having a new constitution before the 2016 General Elections.

Mr. Malambo has told QFM News in a walk in interview that there is also need for the stakeholders demanding that the country should hold the 2016 general elections under a new constitution to disclose their agenda.

He says the Civil Society Organizations in the country should also tell the nation how they intend to sensitize the eligible voters to take part in voting when the country holds a referendum.
