Do better preparations for tribunals- SACCORD advises govt

Government has been advised to always do better preparations whenever it embarks on conflict resolution processes such as tribunals.

The Southern African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) is appealing to government to avoid creating impressions that such conflict resolution processes are ill prepared and only meant to frustrate those who have been accused of wrong doing.

Executive Director Boniface Cheembe says his organization is of the view that when government institutes tribunals such process should be seen to be conducted in sober manner that reflects fairness and justice.

Mr. Cheembe has told Qfm News that this is order that whoever is being investigated by the tribunal does begin to feel that he or she is being persecuted.

He states SACCORD is in this case concerned by the number of adjournments that the tribunal that has been instituted to investigate suspended Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Mutembo Nchito has made so far.

Mr. Cheembe says his organization would like see such adjournments reduced.
