The death of the wife of opposition UPND vice president Canisius Banda, Alice, has been described as a huge tragedy not only to the Banda family, but to entire UPND family.
Mrs. Banda died last at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH).
UPND president Hakainde Hichilema has told Qfm News in a statement that his party is saddened by the untimely death of Mrs. Banda.

Mr. Hichilema says he has known Mrs. Banda as a pillar behind Dr. Banda and the entire family the reason why her passing has come to the party as a huge tragedy.
He says her sadden death once more serves as a reminder that God’s plans are not really people’s.
Mr. Hichilema states his entire UPND family joins in mourning the late Mrs. Banda and calls on the bereaved family to remain strong.
He has since wished Dr. Banda God’s guidance during this tragic movement.
The funeral of the Dr. Banda’s wife is being held at House Number 22298/99 in Lusaka’s PHI residential area.
