50 metric tonnes of maize dispatched to dry spell affected areas in Southern Province

Southern Province Minister Nathaniel Mubukwanu says government has dispatched 50 metric tonnes of maize to all the districts affected by the dry spell in southern province.

Mr. Mubukwanu explains that the 50 metric tonnes is an initial response to the hunger situation in the affected districts.

He says once the assessments are completed, government will come up with a more targeted response.

Mr Mubukwanu says government will continue to send relief maize to needy areas until such a time when people have harvested their crop and have sufficient food to sustain them.

Mr. Mubukwanu points out that the government will do everything possible to reach out to all the affected areas in the country.

He has assured the people of southern province not to worry about starvation stating that government will do everything possible to ensure that they have food to sustain them.
