ZCID hails peaceful campaigns ahead next month’s polls

The Zambia Centre for Interparty Dialogue (ZCID) has commended political parties for the peaceful manner in which they have conducted their campaigns so far ahead of the by-elections.

ZCID Executive Director Horrance Chilando says they are encouraged that they are beginning to see some changes in the manner political parties are conducting themselves during the campaigns for the forthcoming parliamentary by-elections.

Mr. Chilando notes that it is hope that political parties will continue to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner and actually move to another level where they will be able to seek interparty engagement on matters.

He states that violence does not pay, but that campaigning peacefully earns political parties respect and in some cases earns them votes thus it is important that political parties conduct their campaigns in a mature way.

Mr. Chilando has further encouraged political parties to stick to the peaceful campaigns even beyond the forthcoming by-elections.
