Nsanda accorded national mourning

NSANDA W 1

President Edgar Lungu has declared a day of National Mourning in honour of the late Road Development Agency Board Chairperson Willie Nsanda who died at Milpark Hospital in South Africa yesterday.

President Lungu has directed the Secretary to the Cabinet to make necessary arrangements for a Day of National Mourning on the day when burial would take place.

At the time of his demise, Mr Nsanda was also a member of the Patriotic Front (PF) Central Committee.

He also previously served as Deputy Minister of Transport and Communication under the administration of late President Levy Mwanawasa.

The President has used his discretion to grant a State Funeral in recognition of the great service Mr Nsanda rendered to the nation especially in business and politics.

The President has since dispatched to South Africa, PF Secretary-General Davies Chama and another member of the central committee, Samuel Mukupa to help with funeral arrangements.

The President regrets that the death of Mr Nsanda has robbed the party of a great party mobiliser who helped the party win the 2011 elections and participated in various party activities.

He states that in moments of tragedy like this, only God is the comforter because there is nothing that can give one solace other than the belief that God is the ultimate giver of life.

This is contained in a statement issued by the President’s Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda.
