AC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi is facing an uncertain future ahead of his side’s home game against Hellas Verona on Saturday.

Last weekend’s goalless draw at Chievo increased the pressure on Inzaghi, whose side are not competing in Europe this season and trail Serie A leaders Juventus by 24 points.

Milan have failed to win successive games since October and their lack of consistency has seen them lose touch with the top three teams in Italy’s top flight.

The point in Verona was of little consolation for Inzaghi, whose side are 10th in the standings – 11 points adrift of Napoli, who are third and hold the last Champions League qualifying spot.

“We must roll up our sleeves, work and make a winning return – starting on Saturday,” Inzaghi told his club’s official website. “If we were to win, I am sure that we will soon be in a different position.

“We are the first to know that we have to do a lot more because we are Milan.

“(On Saturday) we have an opportunity to take three points that will be important to climb up in the standings.”

Milan have won eight and lost seven of their 25 games so far.

The Rossoneri have been plagued by injuries this season and will be without 12 players this weekend, including key midfielders Nigel De Jong and Riccardo Montolivo.

Both players sustained muscular problems against Chievo.

“When you have so many players out injured, you struggle to rotate the team,” Inzaghi said. “Once they recover, you have to immediately put them on the pitch because you have no other option.

“I haven’t been able to put the same line-up for some time.

“It’s disappointing because you cannot find much consistency.”

Hellas have not won in their last 23 matches against AC Milan that were played at the San Siro.

The Verona outfit halted a four-match winless run with a 2-1 victory at Cagliari last weekend.

The win – their first on the road since December 14 – lifted Hellas to 14th place, eight points clear of the relegation zone.

Hellas coach Andrea Mandorlini will have all of his players available.
