Govt warns against graft at Passports Office

Government has warned officers at the Passports Office to desist from engaging themselves in corrupt activities and change their attitude towards work.

Home Affairs Minister Davies Mwila says he is aware of what is happening at Passports Office and will soon visit the place to get first haDavies Mwiland information.

Mr. Mwila says as Minister in-charge he will not condone any corrupt activities and lazy attitude towards work.

He says negative attitude towards work or engaging in corruption must come to an end as the officers are paid for their jobs and should thus do it wholeheartedly.

Mr Mwila adds that the Passports Office should emulate the National Registration Office were people are able to get National Registration cards without having to queue up to get to get NRCs.

Mr. Mwila notes that the bad attitude by the officers at these offices is what causes unnecessary queues.

He has further urged the members of the public to use the right procedures whenever getting Passports and not to encourage corruption if the vice is to be curbed.
