No Teranga fear for Flying Eagles

Olorunleke Ojo 300x300Flying Eagles goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo has said his side are comfortable playing the hosts, Senegal, in the opening clash of the 2015 Africa Youth Championship (AYC).

The Nigerians will open their title account against the Senegalese Young Lions of Teranga on Sunday at the Stade Leopold Sedar Senghor, Dakar.

Ojo said though the clash is expected to be difficult but his side will overcome at the end of the day.

“Playing the hosts, Senegal, in the first match of the championship on Sunday is going to be difficult but I know we’ll conquer the Senegalese at the end of the day.

“We don’t have any worry with the clash. We’ve prepared adequately to face any opposition at the championship.

“We’ve decided to take the matches one at a time. First we see off Senegal, then others will follow in that order.

“Our target is to secure the World Cup ticket first before we set our eyes on the AYC title.

“I know we’ll excel at the championship not only challenging for the title but qualifying for the World Cup.

“My teammates are eager and keen to make Nigerians proud at the championship,” said the Giwa FC shot stopper to supersport.com.

Nigeria are in Group A together with the hosts, Senegal, Congo Brazzaville and Ivory Coast.

The semifinalists of the eight-team biennial football championship will qualify automatically for the 2015 Fifa Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand.
