Bruised Zambia returned home on Thursday afternoon after a disappointing 2015 Africa Cup.
Zambia were eliminated from the Africa Cup currently taking place in Equatorial Guinea without a win in their three Group B matches after finishing bottom on two points.
Deputy director of sports Gibson Muyaule told Honour Janza and his team at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport In Lusaka that they were disappointed the team failed to reach the quarterfinals.
“You are welcome back though we as a country would have loved you to go beyond the group stage,” Muyaule said.
“I would like to ask the FAZ to tighten up the loose ends. Bridge the gaps because we saw the boys are good and determined but just kept falling short.”
This is the second successive time that Zambia have made a group stage exit from the Africa Cup since the 2013 tournament in South Africa where they were unbeaten but finished third in Group C on three points.
