Sakala defends HH

HH2Zambia Direct Democracy Movement President Edwin Sakala has cautioned the media against peddling what he has described as cruel tribalism talk against UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema and Tongas.

Mr Sakala in a statement issued to QFM News says as someone who has shared a platform with the UPND leader on many occasions, he has known Mr Hichilema to be too open minded and far above tribalism.

Mr Sakala says he has personally seen the agony and pain Mr Hichilema goes through whenever he hears people associate him with tribalism.

He says it is highly regrettable that the media and political opponents capitalizing on this tribalism talk do not know the extent of the psychological pain they are unnecessarily causing to fellow Zambians who choose to participate in national politics.

Mr Sakala says even worse is the current talk of labeling Tonga’s as tribalists for voting for the UPND.

He explains that the essence of multi party democracy is that every citizen must express their political opinion without harassment.

He states that Zambians must instead respect the Tonga people for the unity of purpose they have shown in the just ended election.

Mr Sakala points out that Southern province is predominantly an agriculture province and that their pattern of voting should not come as surprise in the face of the failed agriculture policy.

He says ZDDM is very happy that President Edgar Lungu has decided to make Southern province his priority destination because of the urgent need to understand the cry the people made through their vote.

Mr Sakala says there is a message which the nation must listen to instead of demonizing the UPND leader and the Tonga people for voting against the PF.

He states that the continuous talk of tribalism may just arouse tribal hate which is not in national interest.

Mr Sakala says Zambia must learn from Rwanda where a careless tribal comment made by a radio DJ ignited a genocide which resulted in the death of thousands of innocent children and people.

He says Demonizing Mr Hichilema and the Tonga people for exercising their democratic right must stop as is not only wrong but evil.

Mr Sakala adds that Zambians must learn from the voting pattern in Southern Province that a time has come to change the mode of democracy and governance system.
