JCTR hails Lungu for wanting to reduce poverty

Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection (JCTR) has hailed newly elected president Edgar Lungu’s announced intention to reduce poverty in the country.

JCTR Director Leonard Chiti says Mr. Lungu’s speech has touched many and this will help the country to move a step further in addressing the high levels of poverty especially in rural areas.

Father Chiti states that Mr.Lungu has also shown that he understands the various issues that need serious attention such as the enactment of the country’s new constitution.

He explains that his first step to appointment constitutional lawyer Ngosa Simbyakula as the new Justice Minister is motivating as it given hope to stakeholders that the final draft constitution will not end up only gathering dust on a shelf.

Father Chiti has since appealed to Mr. Lungu to remain committed to delivering development to all parts of the country and ensure that he redeems the majority Zambians from the high cost of living.
