Zambia vice-captain Nathan Sinkala is backing the Chipolopolo prospects to shine, if picked for Afcon 2015.

Sinkala said in Lusaka on Thursday that it was his duty like any other senior player to mentor the new boys, as Zambia head to the starting point of their 2012 triumph in Equatorial Guinea, where he also made his tournament debut and played in all six games en route to the final.

“We were once debutants at the Africa Cup, all we need is to encourage the young players, motivate them to do their best so that we play as a united team and achieve our goal,” Sinkala said.

Nkana striker Ronald Kampamba including midfielder’s Bruce Musakanya of Red Arrows and Spencer Sautu from Choma Eagles are among some of the notable Under-23 players trying to make the cut for the final 23 team.

Kampamba, Musakanya and Sautu are part of the 24-member home-based team attending a nine-day selection camp, for the twelve places available for the domestic players in the team of 26 that will to travel to Johannesburg for final training camp on December 26.

Meanwhile, Sinkala is one of four foreign-based players to have reported early and is training with the home-based players.

The midfielder from Swiss club Grasshopper joined the team together with Lubambo Musonda of Armenian club Ulisses and striker James Chamanga of Chinese club Liaoning Whowin.

Midfielder Chisamba Lungu of Russian side FC Ural joined camp on Monday.
