Midfielder Kondwani Mtonga, is set to end his six month Zambia exile when Chipolopolo regroup on December 26 for their final stage of pre-2015 Africa Cup of Nations camping.

The 28-year-old defensive midfielder is due to return as Honour Janza seeks to broaden his options at the back after Nyambe Mulenga was ruled out with a broken leg.

“We are looking at Kondwani Mtonga who is doing well in India and we also have Bronson Chama who has come back with Christopher Munthali who played a role in the qualifiers,” Zambia assistant coach Kampamba Chintu said.

Mtonga has been in fine form in the inaugural Indian Super League at NorthEast United, where he played 13 games and scored two goals where he has just concluded a four month loan to NorthEast, from 2014 Faz Super Division champions Zesco United.

Meanwhile, Mtonga’s Zesco clubmate Nyambe was ruled out of the Africa Cup after breaking his leg in a car accident on December 14 on his way to joining camp in Lusaka.

“We have got quite a number of defenders but we will definitely miss Nyambe because he came out quite strongly when Stopilla Sunzu got injured during the qualifiers, but we have enough cover,” Chintu said.
