Govt’s failure to recognize women’s contribution to agric sector worries ZARD

Zambia Association for Research and Development (ZARD) says there is need for government to recognize women’s contribution to the agriculture sector.

Association Executive Director Elizabeth Chileshe notes that it is sad that a lot of women put in so much labor in all farming activities but they rarely benefit.

Mrs. Chileshe explains that women’s participation also in farmer input support programme must be recognized at all costs because women do their work and gets almost very little at the end of the day.

Mrs. Chileshe furthermore notes that in as much as farming is done by both men and women, much more has to be done to motivate women in their efforts to contribute to the bumper harvests that the country has continued to record in the past two years.

She has since appealed to all women to keep up with the same spirit of working hard and contribute to the agriculture sector.
