Ackim Ngosa fails to show up for filing of nominations

Opposition United Nationalist Party President Ackim Ngosa today failed to show up at the Supreme Court where he was being awaited to file nominations for the 20th January presidential election.

By broadcast time, Mr. Ngosa’s mobile phones were not reachable.

Mr. Ngosa’s failure to turn up brings the number of presidential candidates who have withdrawn from the race to Plot One to five.

People’s Redemption Party (PRP) President Gerry Sikazwe and National Revolution Party (NRP) President Cosmo Mumba withdrew from the race and endorsed PF President Edgar Lungu, while Common Cause for Democracy President Abel Mtonga withdrew today and endorsed UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema.

And National Party President Reverend Richard Kambulu withdrew from the race this morning by writing to the Returning Officer Lombe Chibesakunda informing her that he will not contest for the presidency due to logistical challenges.

On the other hand Poor People’s Party President Alex Muliokela failed to raise the required two hundred supporters and K10, 000 nominations.

Mr. Muliokela was given the grace period up to today for him to file in his nominations.
