Keep your word – SACCORD implores presidential hopefuls

Candidates that have successfully filed in their nomination to participate in the 2015 presidential election have been implored to keep their word made to the Zambian people once elected.

The Southern African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) says it hopes that whoever will become the country’s new president will endeavor to listen to the wishes of the people.

SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Cheembe says it will be disappointing if whoever becomes the country’s Head of State repeats the same non-responsiveness to the wishes of the people which has been witnessed in successive governments.

Mr. Cheembe has told Qfm News that SACCORD hopes that this time around any of the candidates vying for the country’s highest office that emerges winner will be taken for his or her word from the campaign promises being made.

He says his organization is thus encouraging presidential candidates such as Patriotic Front president Edgar Lungu, who has promised to listen to people once elected republican president, to stick to their pledge.
